Studio Art 1 CREDIT: 0.5 GRADE LEVEL: 9, 10, 11, 12 This course is an introduction to art through a multiple mediums. Students will apply the elements and principles of design to produce creative works of art. Students will learn how to focus their artistic viewpoint and create art that reflects a concept or their individual interests. Learners will demonstrate a higher level of knowledge with both the elements and the principles of design. Learners will be expected to execute tasks independently using great craftsmanship and with attention to detail. Students will be required to describe, analyze, interpret, and make decisions about certain pieces of art. Studies will include: Close-Up Study, Acrylic , Sketchbook, Independent Projects, Abstract Art, Collage, Pottery Wheel, Clay Building Techniques

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY DUAL CREDIT NORTH CENTRAL TECHNICAL COLLEGE GRADE LEVEL: 9, 10, 11, 12 3 College Credits Throughout this course students will explore digital photography. The course will cover digital image basics, digital camera features, using digital cameras, photographic techniques, studio photography, basic digital image editing and using and printing digital images.l Studies will include: Capturing Digital Images, Exploring Canon Power shot Camera Settings, Visit to NCT, Enhancing and Distortion In Photoshop
This course will enable students to develop the skills and techniques involved in the design and construction of ceramics and sculpture. Learners will explore clay using coils, slabs, pinch and the pottery wheel. Students will also create three-dimensional sculpture using various materials. Students will look at copyright images and careers in art. Studies will include: Sketchbook, Empty Bowls, Clay Aquatic Sculpture, Clay Mask, Potter's Wheel, Additive and Subtractive Sculpture SCULPTURE & CERAMICS 2 CREDIT: .05 GRADE LEVEL: 9,10,11,12 PREREQUISITE: Sculpture & Ceramics 1 Students will continue to focus on advanced design concepts for 3D art. Learners will be expected to execute tasks independently using great craftsmanship and with attention to detail. Students will be required to describe, analyze, interpret, and make decisions about sculpture. Students will look at copyright images and careers in art. Studies will include: Paper Mache, Plaster Casting, Fashion Pieces From Unconventional Materials, Independent 3D Projects, Museum Field Trip
PORTFOLIO CREDIT: 0.5 GRADE LEVEL: 11, 12 PREREQUISITE: All Art Studies *Teacher Approval *Referral Required Portfolio workshop is an advanced upper level course in which students will work independently building a conceptual body of work. Students will build a portfolio for continuing education consisting of no less than 8 pieces.
